Warum sind Bäume wichtig?

Ein kleiner Baum von nur rund 20 m Höhe produziert ca.10000 Liter Sauerstoff am Tag. Das reicht für fünf bis zehn Menschen, die jeden Tag 500-2000 Liter Sauerstoff benötigen. Bäume halten unsere Luft sauber, indem sie CO2 verarbeiten. Ein Baum filtert über seine Blätter oder Nadeln bis zu 100 Kilogramm Staub pro Jahr aus der Luft. Bei Regen fließt der gesammelte Staub am Stamm entlang in den Boden ab und ist somit dauerhaft aus der Luft entnommen. Allerdings behindern diese Schadstoffe die Feinwurzeln bei der Aufnahme von Wasser und Mineralien. Die Bäume kümmern.
