1 room, kitchen, bathroom

The series "1 Room, Kitchen, Bathroom" shows insights into the dreary and monotonous everyday life of three young people who are suffering from the psychological consequences of the current contact restrictions of the Coronavirus pandemic. Their lives, which were once characterised by closeness to friends and family and participation in events, are now overwhelmed by isolation and loneliness for an indefinite period of time. They often spend their time in their small one-room apartments, lose contact with their former environment and feel isolated from the rest of society. Confined to their own four walls, their world now consists of only one room, kitchen and bathroom. The aim of the work is to raise awareness of the increased psychological stress, especially among young people. Those affected should find the courage to bring their emotions out into the open and discuss them in order to seek and accept help, whether personal or professional. The series, consisting of six black and white portrait photographs of three different young people, is divided into three pairs of pictures, each photographed separately in the three rooms, "bedroom", "bathroom" and "kitchen". As a whole, the photo series creates an emotional connection between three young people who do not meet but who suffer from the same circumstances. In this way, a sense of cohesion is created, despite the spatial distance.
